Ok, not really, but Bruno and I were invited to a 4th of July BBQ celebration, and this flan is my go-to dessert. It is delicious, easy to make, and everyone usually loves it.
Ingredients:
- 6 eggs
- 1 can condensed milk
- 1 can evaporated or regular milk
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup sugar
Melt the sugar in a pot or if you're crazy like me, in a butter cookie can. Make sure it coats the entire sides and bottom of the can and let it cool completely. Mix all the other ingredients together very well, pour the mixture into the can and cover. Now here is where it gets exciting. My mom places the can in a bain-marie inside her pressure cooker. I've tried to do this with no pressure cooker, and it takes a lot of hours. So the best bet is to put the can in the oven for an hour at 350F, bain-marie is optional. When it is done, let it cool completely and invert the can onto a serving dish. You can keep the flan in the fridge and it is actually more delicious cold!
I confess there is a secret ingredient I'm not telling you! But it will taste equally as delicious without it ;)
I'll let you know what the Brunometer reads after we try this baby tonight!
